For Beginners
TOP for Beginners is divided into Listening
and Reading comprehension sections. This
80-minute test consists of 80 multiple-choice
test items each with three options.
Basic / Intermediate / Advanced
There are 120 multiple-choice test items
divided into three sections: Listening,
Vocabulary & Grammar and Reading. The test
time is approximately 110 minutes.

center you would like to apply.
There are several ways to obtain
information about each of the
language centers in Taiwan.

Determine the cost of studying
at the Chinese learning center, or
centers, you are most interested in.
Go to the language center
website to obtain information
on the following:
A. Tuition & Registration Fees
B. Insurance
C. Housing
Step 3
Determine when applications are
due and make sure the period
of instruction fits your schedule.
At some centers, classes may fill
quickly, so it is best to send your
application well before
the deadline.
Step 4
Complete your application.
Prepare the following documents
for the language center.
A. A completed application form.
B. A copy of your passport.
C. An original copy of your personal
financial statement, valid
within the last 6 months. The
requirements for this statement
will be specified by the center.
D. Diploma / admission letters (varies
from center to center).
E. Research proposal (varies from
center to center).
F. 2-4, 1 x1 inch photos (see learning
center website for details).
G. Insurance certificate.
Step 5
If you are accepted, you will
receive a formal letter of
admission. You must then apply
for a visa to study in Taiwan.
Step 6
Visa application.
Take the following documents
to the nearest ROC embassy,
consulate or representative
agency to apply for entry visas to
enter Taiwan.
A. A certificate of enrollment issued
by the Chinese language center.
B. Proof of financial support.
C. A passport, valid for no less than
six months and having blank
pages sufficient for permits, visas
and stamps. In addition, bring
one copy of your passport.
D. One copy of the completed visa
application form, to be signed
by the applicant in person, and
two 2x2-inch color photos taken
within from the last six months.
E. A health certificate issued within
the last three months.
